Fatima Shrine Exploration

An email from Arturo Ramos-Dalmau suggested that May 13 should be interesting, because of a combination of events, as described in his note, following. In addition to the several connections he mentions, it happens that my wife's birthday is the 13th, and we would be in Nebraska for a small clan gathering with my mother, two older brothers, and my son, to celebrate Mother's day with three of them, and another birthday or two together with Reinhilde(Lefty)'s. None of these events nor the concatenation easily lends itself to exact predictions, so this analysis is exploratory. The figure shows the cumulative cross-egg composite Z-score from 0800 to 2400 on the 13th. The Pope's itinery is indicated with circles, corresponding to the schedule kindly provided by Dr. Joan Lewis, of the Vatican Information Service. First the stimulating note from Arturo:

Subject: About Predicting Future Global Events

Dear Sir:

I found very intellectually stimulating your global consciousness
project. It is my understanding that Pope John Paul II will be visiting
the shrine of Fatima, Portugal on May 13, 2000 ("What More Can He Hope
to Accomplish," TIME Magazine, April 3, 2000, p.39). This article could
provide you with the symbolic meaning that this event has for John Paul
II. This event could probably represent the culmination of the Pope's
mission for world peace (i,e., his recent visit to Israel and Palestine,
etc.). Moreover, this event will not only coincide with the anniversary
of the vision of shepherds, but with a planetary alignment in the sign
of Taurus that astrologers see as some sort of threshold for the planet.
The symbolism of this astrological event resonates with the symbolism of
Fatima. I could expand on this point, but I prefer simply to alert you
that May 13, 2000 could be one of these days when you will chi-squere
tests will give Z scores well beyond the level of probability necessary
for rejecting the null hypothesis about differences in the values of
observed and expected occurrences. Nevertheless, visiting your web page
allowed me to know that on May 4, 2000 World Healing Day will be
celebrated. I think that it was during a visit to GaiaMind that I
learned that on May 12 there will be a conference in San Francisco on
the state of the environmental crisis. By the way, the article "Stars
and Constellations" of the Encyclopedia Britannica (CD 2000, Deluxe
Edition) mentions a symbolic correspondence between the image of Virgin
Mary and Venus, the ruler of the earth sign of Taurus. Does Fatima
represent the Christian expression of the manifestation of Gaia? Anyhow,
this was hunch that I thought could be of interest to you.

Truly,

Arturo Ramos-Dalmau, Ph.D.

Eventually, I sat down to extract the data for processing, and sent a note to the Vatican,
asking for some details of the Pope's visit to the Fatima Shrine. Dr. Joan Lewis immediately
sent a schedule of the main points of the itinery.

Dear Mr. Nelson
The Holy Father left Rome on Friday, May 12, at 4 p.m. Rome time
(3 p.m. Portugal time), and arrived in Lisbon 3 hours later. At
approximately 6:45 p.m., Lisbon time, he took a helicopter to Fatima,
arriving at about 7:25 local time at the heliport there. He travelled
by car to the shrine, arriving about 20 minutes later.
On Saturday, May 13, he arrived at the basilica of the shrine
at 9 a.m. local time for a visit. The Mass for the beatification of
Jacinta and Francisco, which took place on the esplanade outside of the
basilica, began at 9:30 a.m, ending shortly after 12 noon. That same day
he left Fatima at 3:30 p.m. by helicopter for the Lisbon airport, where
he departed at approximately 4:45 p.m. for Rome, arriving at 8:45 p.m.
local time.
Hope this is what you need.
        Joan Lewis

The graph of the cumulative deviation of the composite Z-score across all 25 eggs that had reported by May 24 is interesting. The data selected begin 8:00 am, UTC, which coincides with the beginning of the Pope's day, about half an hour before the beatification mass. The circles indicate these times and the rest of the itinerary marks. Just after the ceremony, the Chisquare drops precipitously to a low at about 2 pm. Then the trace assumes a striking trend with a significant slope during the rest of the journey, stabilizing at a chance performance halfway home. Although it could be a function of chance, the dimensions of this fluctuation are visually impressive, both in the steepness of the deviation slopes and the length of time, several hours. I'll leave further interpretation to you.
